My TCS Journey — From Dream to Reality

There are some moments in life that you never forget — getting your first job offer is one of them. For me, that dream came true when I heard my name being called in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) selection results.

I still remember that evening — around 8 PM in our college auditorium — when the results were announced. I was one of the last candidates to be interviewed, yet when they started calling names, mine was called first. My ears heard it, but my heart couldn’t believe it. That feeling — of pride, disbelief, and joy — will stay with me forever.

TCS — the pride of India — became my first step into the corporate world.

Interview Rounds

Technical Round:

• I was given two coding problems to solve on paper.

• We discussed my minor and major college projects in detail.

• The interviewer curiously asked, “Why are your marks decreasing from 10th to 12th to graduation?” — a question that taught me to stay honest and confident about my journey.

HR Round:

• What are your strengths and weaknesses?

• Why do you want to join TCS?

  
  

Managerial Round:

• This round was more about testing my decision-making and emotional intelligence rather than just technical skills.

  One of the questions that I can never forget was:

  “Suppose you and your friend are going to a party and you both meet with an accident. Your friend is badly injured, and you immediately pick up the bike to take him to the hospital. But on the way, a red traffic light turns on.
  What will you do — wait for the light to turn green or jump the signal?”

  It wasn’t just a question — it was a test of judgment, empathy, and presence of mind.

  
  

  I replied:

  “Sir, in that situation, my friend’s life is more important than the traffic light.
  I would carefully cross the red signal after ensuring no one is at risk.
  Rules are meant to protect lives — and in this moment, saving a life takes priority.”

  
  

  The interviewer smiled.

  
  That day I realized — corporate life is not only about knowledge, but also about humanity, ethics, and the ability to think beyond rules when life demands it.
